Common sense?! My 74-year-old neighbor Bertha just got a fake ‘OneDrive storage full’ email from ‘microsoft-secure-noreply@scam-central.ru’ and lost her entire retirement savings. She’s a sweet lady who can barely forward a PDF, and the *FBI* thinks she just needs to ‘think twice’ before clicking?
Meanwhile, Microsoft keeps shoving these pop-ups down our throats, and the scammers are getting slicker than a greased pig at the county fair. My inbox looks like a battlefield — ‘Your account will be locked’ next to ‘You’ve won a $500 gift card’ and now an official-looking ‘FBI alert’ that’s probably half phishing, too.
Here’s some *real* common sense: STOP making the user the last line of defense. Block sketchy domains. Two-factor everything. And maybe, just maybe, don't send me a scary email from a company I already pay when the scammers are sending the exact same ones.
But no — ‘common sense’ is the best they’ve got. I’ll be over here deleting 47 suspicious emails while Bertha is on hold with the bank for three hours.
