**AITA For Thinking Harambe Was The Real Victim Here?**
BRO, can we FINALLY have an honest discussion about 2016? I'm so tired of pretending that the Cincinnati Zoo didn't gaslight an entire generation. Like, yeah, a 3-year-old fell into the moat. Tragic. But then we just MURDERED a silverback gorilla who was literally just vibing in his enclosure, doing his job of being an apex primate, because *checks notes* a kid's parents weren't watching him.
Everyone was like, "He was dragging the child!" Bruh, that's what gorillas do. It's called *primate husbandry*. He was trying to give the kid a piggyback ride to the gorilla HR department to file a complaint about the trespassing. We literally shanked a 400lb endangered species for having better babysitting instincts than the actual parents.
Y'all made that meme of him looking stoic into the distance, and we just laughed. We didn't learn. We deified him as a joke, but he was a martyr for the cause of "Don't let your crotch goblins run into animal pits."
TL;DR: Harambe didn't die for our sins; he died for Target's shitty parenting. 2016 was the year we killed God (a gorilla) and never looked back.
