So apparently Hamish Linklater is trying to push through some plan to turn the old library into a "community art hub" – complete with a meditation garden and a free bike repair station.
**Common sense, Hamish!** We don't need another place for hipsters to sip kombucha and pretend to fix tyres. The library roof leaks, we've got potholes the size of my wheelie bin, and kids are walking to school on footpaths that look like a war zone.
But sure, let's spend ratepayer money on a "positive vibes" mural and some second-hand spanners.
I'm all for community spirit, but let's start with things that actually affect the people here – like fixing the drains, filling the potholes, and having a bus stop that doesn't flood every time it drizzles.
