Stop Trying to Sell Us Great Lakes Water to China – We Need Common Sense Here, Not Corporate Greed!
As an angry local resident, I'm absolutely fed up with this nonsense about piping our Great Lakes water to drought-stricken states and abroad. We've got algae blooms choking our shorelines, aging pipes leaking raw sewage into our waterways, and you're talking about selling our fresh water like it's a cash cow? Use your common sense – the Great Lakes contain 20% of the world's surface fresh water, but that doesn't mean it's up for grabs. I just read that some company wants to ship tankers full of Lake Michigan water to Asia for bottling. What's next, privatizing our rain? The Great Lakes Compact was supposed to protect this resource, but these corporate vultures are always finding loopholes. Wake up, people – we're not a water ATM for the rest of the planet. Keep our water local, fix our own infrastructure first, and stop treating the Great Lakes like a commodity before we're left with a toxic bathtub.
