Stellar Blade Development Studio Announces Multiplayer Expansion Following Record Sales
TOKYO, Japan (News Desk) — Shift Up Corporation, the South Korean developer of the action-adventure game Stellar Blade, announces a major multiplayer expansion for the title, set for release in the first quarter of 2026.
Shift Up confirmed the expansion this morning via a press release, citing over five million units sold globally since the game's launch in April 2024.
The expansion, titled Stellar Blade: Co-op Protocol, introduces a cooperative multiplayer mode allowing up to four players to explore new environments from the game's universe, featuring exclusive boss encounters and narrative content. The developer states the mode will be available as a free update for existing owners on the PlayStation 5.
According to Shift Up, the decision stems from sustained player demand for shared experiences within the game's post-apocalyptic setting. The studio reports that player engagement remains high, with an average of 500,000 active users per month.
Analysts predict this expansion will further boost the game's revenue, which has already exceeded $250 million, making Stellar Blade one of the best-selling new intellectual properties in the action genre this decade.
The announcement comes as Shift Up prepares for an initial public offering on the Korea Exchange, scheduled for next month. Company officials declined to comment on potential cross-platform releases but stated the expansion will test server infrastructure for future projects.
