TOKYO, JAPAN — Sunrise Studios has officially announced a new original anime series titled "Gundam Rogue Orbit," scheduled for a global release in 2026. According to a press conference held at Sunrise's headquarters on Tuesday, the series will follow a lone mobile suit pilot navigating a contested asteroid belt during a resource war between Earth factions and Martian colonies. Set in a new timeline outside the existing Universal Century or Cosmic Era frameworks, the show is described as a "gritty, standalone narrative" with an emphasis on tactical combat and political intrigue. Executive producer Kenji Nagasaki confirmed that the story centers on protagonist Kaito Serizawa, a rogue pilot who commands a customized Gundam unit equipped with an experimental orbital propulsion system.
