Guild Wars 3 Expansions Detailed in Leaked Developer Roadmap
Guild Wars 3 developer ArenaNet has reportedly unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for the MMO's upcoming post-launch expansions, according to leaked internal documents obtained by industry analysts.
The documents outline a three-phase content rollout, beginning with a major expansion titled "The Echo of Ascension," slated for release four months after the game's launch. This expansion is said to introduce a new playable faction, the Sunlit Covenant, and a series of 12-player raids designed to challenge endgame players.
A second expansion, "Frostfire Dominion," is planned for nine months post-launch, featuring a new continent, the frozen region of Kournan Wastes, alongside a revamped gear progression system centered around a unique crafting discipline called "Glimmer Forging." A third expansion, "The Shattered Veil," remains unconfirmed but is listed for development 18 months after launch, promising a merge of PvE and PvP content.
The leaks, first shared on a prominent gaming subreddit, have sparked widespread online discussion among fans, with many questioning the game's long-term sustainability and potential pay-to-win mechanics. ArenaNet has not officially commented on the leaked documents, though a company spokesperson told gaming news outlet VG247 that they are "investigating the source of the unauthorized information." The full report is expected to be published later today, as the gaming community awaits an official statement from the studio.
