So the government just dropped half a million tax dollars on a dozen of those wire-framed "platner" chairs and settees for some new federal building lobby. Meanwhile, my daughter is using a 20-year-old biology book that still talks about Pluto as a planet. We had a perfectly good, functional leather couch from Staples that cost maybe $800 and would have worked fine. I guess "common sense" budgeting means spending like a drunken sailor on designer furniture nobody asked for. The platner look is cool if you're a downtown art gallery, not for a DMV waiting room. This is exactly why people are fed up. Who else thinks we should sell every one of those overpriced platner chairs and buy some real classroom supplies instead?
