WHAT: The announcement, made via a press release on Thursday, reveals that the new title will continue the narrative of a separate group of survivors trapped on a remote mountain, incorporating enhanced branching storylines and next-generation graphics. The game will be a direct narrative sequel, diverging from prior standalone titles. WHY: The developer cited sustained fan demand, with over 50,000 signatures on a digital petition, and the success of the 2024 PlayStation 5 remaster as key factors in green-lighting the project. Supermassive Games stated the sequel aims to expand the original’s butterfly effect system, promising over 200 unique endings. WHEN: Until Dawn 2 is scheduled for an exclusive holiday 2026 release on PlayStation 5, with a PC port expected in early 2027.
