Local Man Gets Held by CBP for 6 Hours After His "I Heart NY" Hat Was Misidentified as a Threatening Meme, AITA for Laughing?
Yeah, so some poor sucker got his entire life paused by the Good Guys in Blue (CBP, for the uninitiated) because his souvenir hat had a "misunderstood" design. Apparently, the eagle on it looked a little too much like a "sovereign citizen" meme he once posted on Facebook in 2017. Cue the dramatic interrogation about his right to travel and whether he's "aware of the 14th Amendment." TL;DR: he's free now, but his hat is in evidence. I, for one, am shocked that our tax dollars are being spent on this. Truly, the *united states customs and border protection* is keeping us safe from... fashion faux pas.
