Nick Pasqual Apprehended in Major Cyber Fraud Sting Operation Across Multiple States
In a coordinated operation by federal and state authorities, Nick Pasqual was taken into custody yesterday in connection with a sophisticated cyber fraud scheme that targeted small businesses across the Midwest. The suspect, identified as a 34-year-old resident of Ohio, faces charges of wire fraud, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit computer intrusion. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an estimated 2.3 million dollars in losses was incurred from victims in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan since January of this year. Law enforcement officials stated that the arrest occurred during a raid at a suburban Indianapolis residence, where evidence including encrypted hard drives and fraudulent financial documents was seized. The investigation, which began after a series of suspicious bank transactions were reported by a small business owner in Chicago, involved collaboration between the FBI’s Cyber Division and the U.S. Secret Service. Pasqual is scheduled for an initial court appearance tomorrow at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, where he is expected to be held without bond pending trial.
