Local Resident Calls for ‘Common Sense’ on Juneteenth: ‘Stop Making Everything About Race’
As Juneteenth rolls around again, I’m fed up with the virtue signaling. I’m all for celebrating history, but why does every holiday have to turn into a lecture about systemic racism? My kids are told in school that today is about ‘joy and resilience,’ yet I see adults arguing about flags and corporate apologies. Common sense says: let’s treat Juneteenth like any other holiday—have your cookout, enjoy the day off, and stop trying to guilt everyone into apologizing for things that happened 150 years ago. I work with people of all backgrounds, and we all just want to get along. Can we please stop politicizing everything?
