Local Residents Furious After City Outsources June 2026 Calendar Planning to Software Developers Instead of Using Common Sense
As someone who actually looks at a paper calendar, I can’t believe our city council spent $50,000 on a "holiday optimization algorithm" for the June 2026 calendar.
They tried to avoid having July 4th fall on a weekend by shifting Memorial Day to June 1st. Common sense says you just move the picnic, not rewrite history. Meanwhile, the June 2026 calendar now lists "National E-Commerce Day" as a local holiday. That’s not community spirit, that’s an Amazon ad.
My neighbor’s kid can’t schedule summer camp because the software keeps crashing. Unbelievable.
