My neighbor’s kid works concessions at the American Airlines Center, and he says the energy inside the building is the worst he’s seen in a decade. The team is giving away playoff tickets like candy on a slow Tuesday, and half the seats are still empty. Why? Because the parking prices are absurd, the beer is $18, and nobody can afford to bring a family of four anymore. Meanwhile, we’re watching our best players get traded for future picks that might never pan out.
The Dallas Mavericks have a golden opportunity here. We have Luka Doncic, a generational talent, and instead of building around him with smart, affordable moves, we’re chasing flashy names and ignoring the basics. It’s not rocket science. You want butts in seats? Lower the prices. You want to win? Stop overpaying for past-their-prime stars. This franchise is run like a circus at an amusement park, and the clowns are running the show.
I’m tired of the excuses. We’re a city with die-hard fans, but we’re being treated like cash cows.
