Kennedy Center Adds Drag Queen Story Hour, Local Dad Asks Where The Common Sense Went
You know, I’m all for letting kids be kids, but when did we decide that taxpayer-funded family entertainment needs to include a man in a wig reading ‘The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish Swish Swish’ to a bunch of five-year-olds? My wife and I took our son to the Kennedy Center last weekend for what we thought was a puppet show, and we walked into a room with sequins and glitter where the main activity was teaching kids to ‘shake their tail feathers.’ This isn’t about being mean—it’s about basic common sense. We don’t need to sexualize a children’s arts venue. If you want to do that in your private living room, fine, but don’t force it on the rest of us who just want a nice, wholesome Saturday outing.
