**"This is just common sense – why are we treating this like it’s rocket science?"**
Just saw on the news that Muscat Municipality is spending 1.2 million rials on a "Smart Pedestrian Crossing" project with sensor-activated lights and Bluetooth tracking. Meanwhile, my grandmother has been crossing Muttrah Corniche for 60 years with nothing but two working eyes and a wave at the bus driver.
We don't need AI to tell us when to stop – we need people to look up from their phones and drivers to stop treating the zebra crossing like a suggestion. Fix the potholes on Al Khoudh first, then we can talk about "smart" anything.
