**MILDEW HEIGHTS, OH –** A local woman known only as "Mina the Hollower" has caused a commotion in the quiet cul-de-sac of Sycamore Lane after residents claim she’s been "hollowing out" decorative pumpkins before Halloween, leaving them as sad, empty shells.
According to neighbors, Mina, a self-described "organic bug sculptor," has been seen at all hours using a specialized tool to carve intricate, spooky faces into pumpkins—then removing the innards and leaving the gourds on front porches to rot. "It’s a protest against the commercialization of Halloween," she told reporters. "I’m reclaiming the spirit of the holiday."
But local resident and Facebook group admin Karen Plankett isn't having it. "This is just common sense, people! You don’t touch what ain’t yours. You don’t hollow out someone else’s pumpkin. That’s not art—that’s vandalism!" She added, "Next thing you know, she’ll be hollowing out my mailbox."
The police have been called twice, but since no actual theft occurred, they’ve labeled it a "civil matter." Mina has since started a GoFundMe to "fund the hollowing," which has already raised $12. A counter-petition to ban hollowing within city limits has over 300 signatures.
