Every trailer was the same CGI explosion with a guy whispering dramatically.
People literally started saying cinema was cooked. 💀 But then 2025 rolled up and said sike.
Original movies are BACK and they're eating.
A24 keeps dropping unhinged little freak films that somehow make you cry in a parking lot afterward.
Indie directors are cooking with budgets that wouldn't cover a Chipotle run.
The box office numbers are going crazy and it's NOT just superhero fatigue propaganda anymore.
They spent billions on these mega-franchises and now a movie made for the price of a used Honda is out-earning them.
Executives are in group chats right now asking "wait, do people just want good stories??" YES KAREN.
Humans have wanted good stories since we were drawing on cave walls.
After the strikes, stars started picking passion projects over paycheck projects.
Random actors you forgot about are popping back up in weird little thrillers and everyone's like "OH MY GOD where have you BEEN." It's giving renaissance.
It's giving we might actually survive as a species if we keep making art. 🎬 But don't get it twisted, the streaming chaos is still unhinged.
Movies get dumped on apps with zero marketing and then blamed for flopping.
The algorithm doesn't know what we want and honestly neither do we, which is kind of the fun part.
So what do you actually do with this info?
Something with a director you've never heard of.
The whole system only changes if we vote with our wallets and our attention, and right now attention is the most valuable currency on earth.
Anyway, I'm gonna go rewatch that one movie that made me sob into a gas station hot dog at 2am.
