Y'all, I need to vent because the vibes are NOT vibing.
Every year around this time, the internet starts acting like autumn is some sacred, untouchable season.
I'm here to say what everyone is too scared to admit out loud: fall is mid, and the clock is ticking on its whole fake personality.
Summer is loud, sweaty, and unapologetic — it knows what it is.
Winter has aura; it's giving icy main character energy.
Spring is the comeback season, all rebirth and fresh starts.
Fall is the guy who peaked in high school and still brings up the big game at every cookout.
It's a transition season that somehow convinced everybody it's the whole movie.
Bestie, dead things falling from trees is not aesthetic, it's a crime scene.
You spend three glorious months ignoring your lawn, and then boom — the trees start shedding like a stressed-out influencer, and suddenly you're raking for sport.
Your yard looks like a breakup happened in it.
And don't even get me started on the smell. "Crisp air"?
Every fall the algorithm tries to sell you a $200 cardigan that looks like a burlap sack with buttons.
You buy it, wear it twice, and realize you're just cold in an expensive way.
Meanwhile your "layering" situation makes you look like a walking onion.
Cute for the photo, war crimes for your feet.
And we have to talk about the pumpkin spice industrial complex.
It's a hand soap, a dog treat, a scented trash bag apparently.
At this point pumpkin spice is less a flavor and more a federal mandate.
The second the calendar flips, every brand on earth drops the same orange packaging like it's a coordinated heist.
It's not a season, it's a marketing psyop and we all fell for it.
We just accept that the sun starts clocking out at 4:47 PM like it's got a second job.
One day you're living your life, the next you're eating dinner in total darkness wondering if you're a vampire now.
Here's the real tea though — I don't actually hate fall.
Fall is the season that demands you have a personality about it.
You need the right photos, the right candle, the right hayride.
Sometimes I just want to sit inside in my regular clothes and not pretend a gourd changed my life.
Fall can keep its haunted hayrides and its aggressively beige everything.
I'll be over here waiting for actual winter, where the darkness is at least honest about itself.
Honestly, fall isn't bad — it's just overhyped by people who own too many candles.
Final Thoughts
Enjoy your sweaters if that's your thing, but let's stop pretending a temperature drop is a personality.
