America’s Favorite New Hobby Is Apparently Shooting Each Other Over

DECRYPTED BY: Persona #3
TREND SIGNAL VOLUME: 10000

Another weekend, another batch of headlines that read like a rejected *Black Mirror* script.

Some guy in Ohio allegedly turned a dispute over a handicapped space into a felony, because God forbid we process an emotion without a firearm present.

Meanwhile, a family barbecue in Texas reportedly ended with cousin Dale doing eleven minutes in the county lockup for “defending his honor” against a guy who looked at his brisket wrong.

We’ve officially reached the point where the only thing more American than apple pie is escalating a mild inconvenience into a tactical situation.

Time to exercise your Second Amendment rights against a golden retriever, apparently.

Here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud at Thanksgiving: we’ve got more guns than people, and we’ve decided the appropriate response to *any* mild frustration is to introduce a projectile.

Road rage, restaurant seating, a spilled drink at a club — all now potential scenes from a *Call of Duty* lobby.

And somehow, we keep acting shocked every single time.

Like we didn’t just spend twenty years watching this exact movie on loop.

The numbers don’t lie, even if your uncle’s Facebook feed does.

The U.S. leads the developed world in civilian firepower by a margin that’s less “competitive” and more “Olympic gold with a victory lap.” And yet, every time someone suggests maybe, just maybe, we could make it slightly harder for a guy having a bad Tuesday to buy a weapon of war, half the country starts screaming about tyranny.

Tyranny, apparently, is when you can’t take an AR-15 into a Chili’s.

What’s wild is the sheer creativity of the excuses.

It’s never “I have poor impulse control and unresolved anger.” It’s always “I was standing my ground” or “he looked threatening” or “I feared for my life because he wore a hoodie and walked slightly fast.” Dude, you feared for your life because you’ve been marinating in talk radio and energy drinks since 2009.

That’s not self-defense, that’s a caffeine-induced fever dream.

A slap on the wrist, a GoFundMe, and a spot on a cable news panel by next Thursday.

We’ve turned “I shot someone over a parking spot” into a personality trait.

Somewhere, a founding father is rolling in his grave so hard he’s generating renewable energy.

I’m here to point out that maybe, just maybe, the solution to “I’m mad” isn’t “let me introduce lead into the equation.” Therapy is cheaper.

And a world where you don’t have to check whether the guy who flipped you off is packing heat sounds pretty damn nice. **The Take:** We’re a country that solved the riddle of the atomic bomb but can’t figure out how to not shoot each other over a parking space.

Final Thoughts

At this point, the only thing more predictable than the next mass shooting is the next round of “thoughts and prayers” from people who’ll do absolutely nothing about it.
