๐ค YOUR MONEY IS LYING TO YOU ๐ธ (THE TRUTH ABOUT RICH PEOPLE)
ok so i was just sitting there. doom scrolling at 3am. my bank account said like $42. and i literally said out loud "where did my money go??" and then i realized something WILD. something that literally nobody is talking about. money is not real. like. AT ALL. ๐จ
hear me out. we are all out here grinding and slaying and working 9-5s for PAPER. like literal paper. and numbers on a screen. and we let it control our entire mood?? like be so fr rn. if i check my account and see $20 less than yesterday i literally feel like a failure. but what even IS money?? it's just vibes we all agreed on. ๐
think about it. you have this green paper. and you go to starbucks. and they give you a sugary drink. and you're like "fair trade." but like. the paper itself has NO value. the drink has value. your labor has value. but the money is just a middleman. and we let it run our lives?? make it make sense. ๐
rich people figured this out btw. that's the tea. they don't think about money like "i have $100 so i can buy this." they think about it like "what can this money DO for me." like it's a TOOL. not an identity. not a goal. just a tool. and we're out here making money our whole personality. "i'm broke" "i'm rich" "i'm middle class" girl that's not you that's just your current financial situation. you are not your bank account. โ๏ธ
here's the thing that blew my mind. money is literally just ENERGY. it flows. it comes and goes. like water. or tiktok trends. you can't hold onto it forever or it gets weird. you gotta let it flow through you. spend it. invest it. save it. give it away. it's not meant to sit in a pile like a dragon's hoard. that's not how it works. ๐ฅ
and the way we talk about money?? oh my god. bruh. we act like it's this scary monster. "i can't talk about money" "money is taboo" "oh i don't like to discuss what i make" GIRL. THAT'S HOW THEY KEEP YOU POOR. rich people talk about money ALL THE TIME. they strategize about it. they share tips. they collaborate. meanwhile we're like "oh i don't wanna seem greedy" and then we stay broke. hello?? wake up. ๐
also can we talk about inflation?? like. the government is literally printing money and we're supposed to just accept that our savings are worth less every year?? that's not a conspiracy that's just math. your $1000 from 2019 is like $800 now. and nobody cares. we're all just vibing while our purchasing power evaporates. be so serious. ๐
but here's the real tea. money is a GAME. and most of us don't even know the rules. we're playing checkers while the wealthy are playing 4D chess. they know about compound interest. they know about tax loopholes. they know about asset allocation. we're just like "i got paid today let me buy some shein and chipotle" and then wonder why we're stuck. ๐ฎ
the most insane part?? the people with the most money are often the cheapest. they're not flexing. they're not buying lambos. they're buying assets. they're buying time. they're buying freedom. while we're out here buying dopamine hits from amazon prime. the math is not mathing. ๐งฎ
ok but like. real talk. how do we fix this?? first step: stop letting money control your emotions. when you check your account, don't react. just observe. "oh that's interesting." like a scientist. not a drama queen. second step: learn the game. there are free resources everywhere. youtube. podcasts. tiktok actually has some good finance stuff if you look past the get rich quick scams. third step: start thinking about money as a tool. what do you want it to DO for you?? freedom? security? experiences? write it down. manifest it. make it happen. ๐
and please for the love of god stop comparing yourself to other people's money. you don't know their debt. you don't know if they're struggling. you don't know if they inherited it. comparison is the thief of joy AND your bank account. stay in your lane. grind YOUR game. ๐ฏ
the wealthy understand something we don't: money is not the goal. it's a means to an end. the goal is freedom. the goal is time. the goal is options. when you chase money for money's sake, you lose. when you chase freedom, money follows. it's like that one taylor swift line: "you don't have to be rich to be my man" but like. also be rich. for freedom. not for status. ๐
so here's my challenge to you. next time you stress about money, ask yourself: "is this real stress or is this just my programming??" because we've been conditioned to fear money. to hoard it. to worship it. and that's not healthy. money is just paper. numbers on a screen. agreed-upon fiction. but it's also a tool for creating the life you want. so use it. don't let it use you. ๐ ๏ธ
drop a comment if you've ever cried over your bank account. i know i have. we're all in this together. and remember: you are not your net worth. you are not your bank balance. you are not your 401k. you are a whole ass person with value that can't be measured in dollars. period. ๐
anyway that's my ted talk. i'm going to go check my account now and practice what i preach. wish me luck besties. ๐
Final Thoughts
After reading this piece, itโs clear that money isnโt just a medium of exchangeโitโs a psychological battlefield where our anxieties and aspirations collide. The real tragedy isnโt that we chase it, but that we often mistake its power to buy comfort for its inability to purchase meaning. In the end, the most honest conclusion I can offer is this: treat money as a tool, not a totem, because the balance sheet of a life well-lived rarely tallies in digits alone.
