the last ronin game is just another reason why common sense is dead in this town.

So, I’m scrolling through the local news this morning and see that our city council is literally about to approve a $500,000 taxpayer-funded grant for some big tech company to set up a "state-of-the-art gaming studio" right on Main Street. They’re calling it "economic development" and claiming it’s the next big thing. And guess what the first project is? An adaptation of "the last ronin game." Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against video games—my grandson plays them all day. But common sense tells me that handing over half a million dollars of our hard-earned cash for a game about a turtle ninja having a slow, depressing revenge plot is nonsense.

Meanwhile, our potholes are deep enough to swallow a Smart car, the library is closing early because they can't afford staff, and the school board just cut art classes again. But sure, let’s put a "brave and pixelated" Ronin on the payroll. Maybe the Ronin can fight our decaying infrastructure, because apparently, our mayor thinks priority is playtime. Are we funding a game or a funeral for common sense?
