Resident Evil Veronica Remake Announced – But Why Does It Need ‘Common Sense’ to Survive?
I’m an angry local who’s lived here for thirty years, and I just saw the news that Capcom is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Finally, a classic gets the attention it deserves. But reading the comments from some of the clickbait articles, I can’t help but roll my eyes. They’re gushing over “groundbreaking narrative” and “atmospheric dread.” Come on, people! Use some common sense. This game has a plot where a British aristocrat uses a stolen secret weapon to resurrect her dead brother with a virus? And the protagonist, Claire Redfield, gets trapped on a remote island with a madman’s daughter and a helicopter crash? That’s not “groundbreaking”—that’s a soap opera with zombies! The old game had clunky mechanics and a story that made you yell at the screen. Why are we pretending this is high art? Just admit it’s a fun, messy survival horror romp that needs a polish. Stop the hype and bring back the frustration we actually loved.
