Southwest Airlines Announces Major Expansion With 15 New Routes Across The United States
DALLAS, TEXAS — Southwest Airlines officially unveiled a significant network expansion on Tuesday, adding 15 new nonstop routes to its domestic flight schedule. The announcement, made from the carrier’s headquarters in Dallas, includes service to several underserved markets and marks the airline’s largest single-day route launch in the past year.
The new destinations span from the Pacific Northwest to the Gulf Coast, with notable additions including direct flights from Nashville to Portland, Oregon, and from Denver to Savannah, Georgia. Southwest Airlines’ new routes will begin operations on June 5, 2025, and are designed to capture leisure and business travelers seeking lower fares.
According to corporate communications, the expansion aims to increase connectivity in cities where the airline has not previously operated. “This move reinforces our commitment to affordable travel,” said Ryan Green, Senior Vice President of Network Planning. The new routes will be served exclusively by Boeing 737 aircraft.
Industry analysts note that the expansion places Southwest in direct competition with low-cost carriers on key transcontinental corridors. Southwest Airlines new routes will offer introductory fares starting as low as $59 one-way, with tickets now available for purchase through the airline’s website and mobile app.
