mcdonald's drive-thru ai upgrade glitch reveals a hidden 'ghost order' from 1997

A Minneapolis data analyst reviewing McDonald’s new AI drive-thru logs made a chilling discovery: an identical, unfulfilled order for a “McHappy Meal, no toy, extra fries” from April 12, 1997, has been re-rendered over 4,000 times this month across 11 different states. The AI system reports the order is “pending removal” but keeps re-spawning the same 28-year-old ticket, which lists a customer named “E. K.” and a note reading “table for one, back corner.” The analyst, who asked not to be named, says the glitch is “too precise to be an algorithm bug” and has traced the order’s IP origin to an old, shuttered restaurant location that’s been a parking lot since 2001. McDonald’s calls it a “duplicate data cache error.” But the analyst insists: “The matrix isn’t forgetting this one.”
