Finally, Some Common Sense! McDonald's Drive-Thru AI Upgrade Has My Head Spinning – and Not in a Good Way
I can't believe I'm reading this. They're rolling out a 'McDonald's drive-thru AI upgrade' in our town, and what's the first thing they do? Get rid of the human voice that's been taking my order for years! I pulled up to the speaker last week, and a robot asked me if I wanted a McFlurry with my Big Mac. I said 'no,' and it asked me THREE MORE TIMES. Then it tried to upsell me on apple pies I never asked for. This isn't progress, it's a mess. My order was completely wrong – I got two cheeseburgers when I clearly said 'no cheese' three times. Common sense would tell you that a machine can't handle a simple modification like 'no onions.' I had to drive around, park, and go inside to fix it, which completely defeated the purpose of the drive-thru. Are we really saving time here, or are we just creating more problems for ourselves? Meanwhile, the kid inside who used to take my order is now out of a job, and I'm left yelling at a speaker that doesn't listen. Absolute nonsense. Stick to what works, McDonald's – a real person who can hear me and understand that 'no' means 'no.' This upgrade is a downgrade in every single way.
