Great Lakes ice levels hit record low, and common sense says we're ignoring the real problem
Just saw the report that the Great Lakes are down to just 3% ice coverage, and my jaw is on the floor. Used to be we could count on a solid freeze every winter for the shipping season and weather balance, but now it's all alarm bells and hand-wringing. Common sense tells me we're so busy pointing fingers at climate change that we're ignoring the real issue: poor urban planning and runoff. I live near Lake Erie, and I watch storm drains dump salt and sludge right into the water every thaw. We're not capturing that mess, and now the lakes can't even form a decent ice cap. Wake up, people. We don't need more studies, we need grit and a proper cleanup.
