2018-2022 Ford Safety Recall Issued Over Brake Fluid Leak That Could Increase Crash Risk
DEARBORN, Michigan (March 12, 2025) – Ford Motor Company has announced a major safety recall affecting approximately 423,000 vehicles from model years 2018 through 2022. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this 2018-2022 Ford safety recall targets a manufacturing defect in the brake master cylinder.

WHEN: The recall was officially filed with NHTSA on March 10, 2025. Ford expects to begin notifying affected owners by mail starting April 7, 2025.
WHERE: Ford dealers nationwide will perform the repair free of charge. Owners can also schedule service online through Ford’s owner portal.
WHY: NHTSA has received 23 reports of brake failure linked to this issue, including three minor crashes. Ford stated that the defect poses an increased risk of collision.
Ford advises all owners to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA Recall Lookup website immediately.
