2018-2022 Ford Safety Recall Announced for Over One Million Vehicles Over Rollaway Risk and Brake Failure
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a major safety recall affecting certain 2018 to 2022 Ford models. According to officials, the recall involves more than one million vehicles due to a defect that may cause unintended vehicle rollaway and potential brake failure. The issue stems from a faulty rear axle hub bolt that can fracture, leading to a loss of parking pawl engagement and brake fluid leakage. Ford Motor Company has confirmed the defect after receiving multiple consumer complaints and warranty reports. Affected models include the Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator. The recall was initiated on June 14, 2024, following an investigation by the NHTSA. Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to visit authorized dealerships for a free inspection and repair. Ford urges all affected drivers to park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures until the recall service is completed.
