Wednesday Season 3 Netflix Renewal Confirmed for Higher Stakes Production
PASADENA, Calif. — Streaming giant Netflix officially confirmed the renewal of its hit supernatural drama series Wednesday for a third season, with production scheduled to commence later this year in Romania.
The announcement, made during a press briefing on Wednesday morning, detailed that principal photography will begin in April 2025 at Buftea Studios near Bucharest. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar revealed that the upcoming season will introduce a more expansive and intricately plotted narrative, following the critical and commercial success of the first two installments.
“We are thrilled to continue the dark and twisted journey of Wednesday Addams,” stated Gough and Millar in a joint release. “Season three will feature higher stakes, new supernatural adversaries, and a deeper exploration of the mysteries surrounding Nevermore Academy.”
Netflix executives confirmed that actress Jenna Ortega, who portrays the titular character, will return alongside the core ensemble cast. The series, a record-breaking phenomenon, remains one of the platform’s most-watched English-language titles, accumulating over 1.5 billion viewing hours globally since its debut in 2022.
Industry analysts project the next season to further capitalize on the franchise’s viral appeal, with expanded merchandise and potential spin-off discussions already underway. The production timeline places a tentative release window in late 2026.
