Stellar Blade Developer Reportedly Partners With Netflix for Live-Action Adaptation
LOS ANGELES, CA — Developer Shift Up has reportedly entered into a partnership with Netflix to produce a live-action adaptation of the hit video game "Stellar Blade," marking a significant crossover between interactive and cinematic entertainment.
According to industry sources, the collaboration was announced late Tuesday, with production scheduled to begin in early 2025. The adaptation will follow the game's narrative, centering on protagonist Eve as she battles monstrous entities in a post-apocalyptic world to rescue humanity.
Shift Up CEO Hyung-tae Kim stated in a press release, "We are thrilled to bring the world of 'Stellar Blade' to a broader audience through Netflix's global platform. This partnership allows us to expand the story and universe in new and exciting ways."
Netflix's head of original content, Jinny Howe, confirmed the project, emphasizing a commitment to preserving the game's visual style and thematic depth. "The game's stunning aesthetics and compelling story make it an ideal candidate for adaptation," Howe said.
The original "Stellar Blade," released in April 2024 for the PlayStation 5, received critical acclaim for its fast-paced combat and dystopian aesthetics. Analysts expect the adaptation to attract both gaming enthusiasts and mainstream viewers.
Further details, including casting and release dates, have not yet been disclosed.
