2018-2022 Ford Safety Recall Expands to Over 1.2 Million Vehicles Over Brake Failure Risk
DETROIT, MI – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a major expansion of a 2018-2022 Ford safety recall, now affecting more than 1.2 million vehicles due to a potential brake failure risk. The recall specifically targets Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models from the 2018 to 2022 model years, where a faulty rear brake hose may rupture, causing a loss of braking ability. Ford Motor Company issued the corrective action after receiving over 1,300 reports of brake fluid leaks, including 19 accidents and multiple injuries. The automaker will replace the affected brake hoses free of charge, with notifications mailed to owners starting March 2025. Owners are urged to visit an authorized dealer immediately for inspection, as the defect poses a serious safety hazard.
