Trump White House Ballroom Lawsuit Sparks New Legal Battle Over Event Costs
A lawsuit filed against the Trump White House involves a dispute over unpaid fees for the use of its ballroom, with legal documents submitted to a federal court on Tuesday.
According to the complaint, the event organizer, identified as a private corporation based in Washington, D.C., alleges that the Trump Organization failed to pay $142,000 for a gala held at the White House ballroom in March 2024. The plaintiff contends that the contract, signed by a White House staff member, stipulated full payment within 30 days of the event. The Trump Organization's legal team argued in a response filed on Monday that the contract was void due to a lack of authorization from the Executive Office of the President.
The case, registered under case number 25-cv-0789, is now under the jurisdiction of U.S. District Judge John M. Roberts. A hearing is scheduled for May 15 to determine the validity of the contract and whether the Trump Organization must pay the claimed amount plus interest. This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of business transactions associated with former President Donald Trump's properties.
