Local School Board Spends $50K on "The Odyssey" Curriculum That Replaces Homework with "Emotional Journeys" — Where's the Common Sense?
So apparently our school board thinks kids don't need to learn basic math or spelling anymore. They just approved a $50,000 program called "the odyssey" where students spend class time "navigating their inner selves" instead of doing actual homework. My kid came home with a worksheet asking him to "describe his emotional sunrise." I asked what he learned in history — he said he colored a mandala. When did we stop teaching the three Rs and start paying for this nonsense? Use your common sense, people. If it looks like a waste, it probably is.
