Southwest Airlines Announces Major Expansion with 18 New Routes Across the United States
CHICAGO, IL – May 15, 2025 – Southwest Airlines Co. today unveiled an extensive route expansion, adding 18 new nonstop routes across its domestic network, in a strategic move to enhance connectivity for business and leisure travelers. The new services, set to launch on October 2, 2025, will originate from key hubs including Denver International Airport, Nashville International Airport, and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. According to a company press release, the expansion targets underserved markets, such as new direct flights from Denver to Syracuse, New York, and from Nashville to Bozeman, Montana. Vice President of Network Planning, Adam Decaire, stated that the initiative is designed to increase operational efficiency and offer greater travel flexibility. The announcement comes amid a recovering travel industry and a reported 12% increase in passenger demand during the first quarter of 2025. Fares for the new routes are available for booking immediately, with introductory promotional pricing starting at 49 dollars one-way.
