This Platner Award Ceremony is Just Common Sense Wasted on Fancy People That Don’t Care About Our Community

So I’m scrolling through my feed and I see the city is throwing another “Platner Award” ceremony for landscape architecture. Thousands of dollars on some designer wire chairs and a bronze plaque for a park bench that nobody asked for. Meanwhile, the pothole on Main Street has been there since last winter. I’m not saying good design isn’t nice, but how about we fix the roads first before we give out a “Platner” for a fancy public square that’s just going to get covered in pigeon poop by next week? Common sense, people. Stop spending our tax dollars on metal mesh chairs and start spending it on things that actually work. My grandmother could point out a good tree from a bad one without a $50,000 award. That’s just common sense. End rant.
