Local Town Goes Dark for 'Northern Lights Tonight' – Council Says It's 'Flood Risk', Not 'Common Sense'

My street has been pitch black for three hours now because the council turned off ALL the streetlights so people could see the northern lights tonight. Meanwhile, my elderly neighbor just tripped over a loose paving slab and broke her wrist. Common sense says you dim the lights, not kill them completely! What about safety? The northern lights are beautiful, but not when Mrs. Higgins is bleeding on the pavement because nobody could see her fall.
