Apex, North Carolina – A local man faces multiple charges after a brazen daylight robbery at a downtown convenience store.

According to the Apex Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM on Tuesday at a 7-Eleven on Salem Street. Authorities report that suspect brendan banfield, 34, entered the store, approached the counter, and demanded cash from the register. No weapon was displayed, but the clerk complied out of fear for safety.

The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Responding officers located banfield a short distance away, matching the description given by witnesses. He was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation revealed banfield is also a person of interest in a separate series of retail thefts in neighboring Cary. He has been charged with common law robbery and is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
