Local Man Sets Up Lawn Chair in Floodwater, Shouts ‘Come and Get Me, Amanda!’ as Tropical Storm Amanda Hits Neighborhood
You know, I’ve lived in this town for 30 years, and I’ve never seen such a lack of common sense. Tropical storm Amanda is here, and my street is already a river. But does my neighbor, Carl, tie down his trash cans or bring in his lawn furniture? No. He drags a lawn chair into the middle of the flooded street, sits down with a beer, and yells, ‘Is that all you got, Amanda?’ The guy is 60 years old. He’s gonna get swept into a storm drain trying to prove a point to a cloud. Meanwhile, the rest of us are sandbagging our doors and he’s out there auditioning for a disaster movie. I’m just waiting for the rescue crews to have to fish him out of a culvert while my basement floods. Common sense ain’t so common when tropical storm Amanda rolls through, I guess.
