Applebee's Calexico location closure proves common sense has left the building – another community staple gone while they expect us to "order takeout from 50 miles away."
Just drove by the Applebee's in Calexico this morning and saw the "Permanently Closed" sign. Shocker. Another corporate decision made by some suit in a boardroom who's never even set foot in the Imperial Valley. We all saw this coming when they cut the late-night menu and stopped hiring local teens. Now families like mine have to drive 45 minutes to El Centro if we want a decent Bourbon Street Steak. But hey, at least they'll save a few bucks on the electric bill. Real "common sense" move from a chain that can't figure out why nobody's eating out anymore. Their loss. I'll just fire up my own grill and save the $15 tip.
