Alabama GOP Congressional Map Ruling Defies Obvious Logic And Basic Geometry, Common Sense Suggests Move To Rhode Island
Oh, great. So, some unelected judge in a fancy robe tells Alabama that they can’t draw maps like a kindergartner with a crayon, but here we are again. Let me get this straight: you’ve got a state that’s 27% Black, but somehow the only viable maps the GOP can produce have exactly one majority-Black district out of seven? That’s not ‘statesmanship,’ that’s a math problem that my third-grader could fail. Common sense says if you’ve got seven slices of pizza and two hungry people, you don’t give one slice to the person who paid for half the pie. But no, let’s have another court battle so we can pretend this isn’t about power, it’s about ‘tradition.’ Maybe if the GOP spent half the energy on fixing potholes as they do on gerrymandering, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Wake me up when the Supreme Court tells them to fix the crayon-drawing.
