Erin Brockovich Takes Fight for Data Center Transparency to Virginia Regulators
RICHMOND, VA - Environmental activist Erin Brockovich has formally petitioned the Virginia State Corporation Commission demanding mandatory public disclosure of the water, energy, and chemical usage by major data centers operating within the Commonwealth. Citing concerns over localized environmental degradation and resource strain, Brockovich and a coalition of residents are calling for legally binding transparency requirements for facilities owned by companies including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft. The regulatory challenge, filed earlier this week, alleges that current voluntary reporting standards are insufficient to protect community health and natural resources. A hearing date has not yet been set.
