THE HEIRLOOM HOTEL LAUREL MS ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING WITH HISTORIC RENOVATION COMPLETE.
LAUREL, Mississippi (WSAR) – December 14, 2025. The Heirloom Hotel Laurel Ms formally opened its doors to the public on Friday, marking the culmination of a multi-million dollar restoration project. The hotel, located at 110 Front Street in downtown Laurel, was initially constructed in the 1920s as a railroad depot and later abandoned. What was previously a structure on the verge of demolition has now been transformed into a 24-room boutique destination. Who led the effort? A partnership between local developers and the City of Laurel, with funding from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. When did the renovation conclude? After 18 months of construction, which began in early 2024. Where exactly is the property situated? On the corner of Front Street and 2nd Avenue, one block from the historic Jones County Courthouse. Why was the renovation undertaken? Civic leaders cited a need to preserve the region’s architectural heritage and to attract tourism. How did the transformation occur? Workers meticulously restored original terrazzo floors, exposed the original steel trusses in the lobby, and installed period-appropriate fixtures. General Manager Eleanor Vance stated, “This is not merely a place to sleep; it is a living archive of Laurel’s history. Our goal was to retain the soul of the building while providing modern luxury.” The property also features a rooftop bar with views of the downtown skyline and a restaurant specializing in Southern farm-to-table cuisine. The grand opening event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials and representatives from the Mississippi Tourism Association. The Heirloom Hotel Laurel Ms is now accepting reservations for both nightly stays and private events.
