Karmelo Anthony Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges in Major DEA Sting Operation
Authorities in New York City have confirmed that Karmelo Anthony, a 24-year-old man with no known affiliation to the basketball star Carmelo Anthony, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning as part of a large-scale Drug Enforcement Administration sting targeting a regional narcotics trafficking network. According to the DEA, Anthony faces a 12-count federal indictment alleging possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. The arrest occurred following a coordinated raid on a residential apartment in the Bronx, where agents recovered approximately $250,000 in cash, multiple firearms, and over 10 kilograms of illicit drugs. Anthony is currently being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center pending a court appearance scheduled for Friday. The investigation remains ongoing as federal prosecutors seek to identify additional co-conspirators.
