The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. local time, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Chauvin, 49, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened a probe into the assault, which is being described as an isolated event.
