Champion Foods Issues Urgent Recall for Pizza Due to Undeclared Allergen Risk
**BY A NATIONAL NEWS ANCHOR**
DETROIT, MICHIGAN — Champion Foods LLC has initiated a voluntary recall for a limited quantity of its pizzas, citing the potential presence of an undeclared allergen that poses a serious health risk to consumers with specific dietary sensitivities.
According to an official statement released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall involves a single production lot of the company's 24-ounce "Champion Foods Premium Pepperoni Pizza." The contamination was discovered during a routine internal quality audit, which revealed that the product may contain traces of soy, a known allergen that is not listed on the product's ingredient label.
The affected pizzas are identified by a “Best By” date of November 14, 2026, and a production code of 421224. These items were distributed to retail grocery stores across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana over the past two weeks.
To date, no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in connection with this product. However, officials are urging consumers who have purchased the recalled items to immediately return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
"The safety of our customers is our highest priority, and we deeply regret this oversight," a Champion Foods representative said in the release. "We are working in full cooperation with the FDA to ensure all affected products are removed from the supply chain."
Individuals with soy allergies are at risk of experiencing severe or life-threatening allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, if they consume the contaminated pizza. Champion Foods is advising all retailers to stop sale of the affected lot and to verify their inventory without delay.
