Champion Foods Issues Urgent Recall of Frozen Pizza Products Over Undeclared Allergen Contamination
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Champion Foods LLC, a Michigan-based manufacturer, has announced an immediate voluntary recall of select frozen pizza products sold nationwide due to the presence of undeclared milk and soy allergens, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed Tuesday evening. The recall, initiated on December 12, 2024, affects approximately 14,000 cases of the company’s Champions Choice and All American Pizza brands distributed to grocery stores in 15 states. Contamination was discovered during a routine production inspection at the company’s Detroit facility, where standard cleaning procedures failed to prevent cross-contact from prior runs of cheese-topped varieties. The FDA has urged consumers with milk or soy allergies to discard the affected items immediately, as ingestion could cause severe or life-threatening allergic reactions. Champion Foods has suspended operations at the plant pending a full internal review. No illnesses have been reported to date.
