DETROIT, MICHIGAN – Federal authorities have officially named Scott Michael Campbell in connection with a major cybersecurity breach targeting financial institutions. According to a statement released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice, the investigation involves alleged unauthorized access to sensitive customer data dating back to early 2024. Officials confirmed that Campbell, a 42-year-old software engineer, was taken into custody following a coordinated operation by the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The charges include computer fraud and wire fraud, with potential penalties of up to 20 years in prison per count.
