So our tax dollars are paying for cops to break up a bunch of folks grilling hot dogs and playing music in their backyard because one of my precious neighbors couldn't handle a little noise before sunset. The official reason? A “Juneteenth celebration” without a permit for amplified sound. I’m all for common sense, but since when do we need a city permit to have a family cookout? If this was a frat party on a Tuesday, nobody would blink. But the second a community wants to acknowledge a holiday about freedom, suddenly everyone's an expert on city ordinances.
