Brandon Sanderson Expands Literary Empire: New Children’s Book Series Set for Global Release in September 2025
According to an official announcement from Sanderson’s publishing house, Tor Books, the acclaimed fantasy author will release a brand-new children’s series titled “The Aleriel Journals” on September 15, 2025. The three-book project, which spans approximately 800 pages per volume, is intended for audiences aged 8 to 14. Sanderson, known for his Cosmere universe and works such as “The Stormlight Archive,” stated that the series explores themes of environmental stewardship and magical ecosystems, set in a world where sunlight powers sentient crystals. The first book, “The Glass Gardens,” will feature illustrations by artist Charlie Bowater. Pre-orders have already caused major online retailers to experience a surge in traffic, with initial print runs exceeding one million copies globally. Early reviewers have compared the narrative style to a fusion of Sanderson’s “Alcatraz” series and the whimsy of “The Little Prince.”
